Ultrastellar is a kid-friendly full-color graphic novel. The story’s in progress, and the first 92 pages (plus bonus material) have been collected as ULTRASTELLAR, BOOK 1: ESCAPE.
The Story
After his father’s sudden death, 12-year-old Trevor Campbell is having a hard time.
He and his mom had to move in with difficult family, he’s getting bullied at his new school, and he’s often afraid and overwhelmed.
Trevor copes by escaping — getting lost in his dad’s old comics, daydreaming of the past, even meditating in his new fort: a cardboard box in the laundry room!
When it all becomes too much, Trevor runs away to his old house, to the tree fort in the backyard, just to return to a place he once called home.
Surrounded by familiar comfort, Trevor meditates.
But then, something happens…
Trevor opens his eyes, shocked to find himself somehow stranded in another dimension:
The Ultrastellar,
“beyond the stars”.
Has escape taken him too far?
The Ultrastellar is a bizarre world full of strange encounters.
And yet, it might just give Trevor what he needs to face the conflicts back home.
That is, if he can find a way home… and chooses to go!
